Welcome to the University of South Florida St. Petersburg Family!

We are excited that you have joined the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.   You are now part of a group of dedicated and talented employees who work hard in support of the University's mission and goals.

We realize that your first couple of weeks as a new employee can be overwhelming - coming into a new environment, meeting new people, and searching for a specific building or room.  So, we have assembled this information in order to help acquaint you with your new environment.

You will begin your first day of employment at the Office of Human Resources.  You will complete your payroll paperwork, provide documents that establish your identity and employment eligibility, and supply your bank account information for direct deposit of your pay.  The HR Benefits Specialist will then provide you valuable information on available benefit programs for which you are eligible.   There is a 60 day period to sign up for your benefits from your date of hire.   If you do not enroll within the 60 day period, you will have to wait until the next open enrollment (held in the Fall of each year, with a start date of the following January) unless you experience a Qualifying Status Change.

  • New Employee Orientation will introduce you the campus and its structure and provide information on benefits and retirement
  • Employee ID numbers and Photo ID
Your employee ID number will be assigned as soon as your record is entered into the Human Resources System when you are hired. After payment of $10 to the Cashier's Office, your photo ID can be issued.   Photo IDs are taken at the Audio Visual section within the Library after verifying employment and providing  a receipt of payment.
  • Parking Services – Click here to check out the parking rates and how to obtain a permit.
  • Emergencies and Campus Police
Ask your supervisor about building emergencies (where to go in the event of a fire alarm, how to check in to let someone know you are out of the building.)  In the event of a major emergency, the campus has procedures already in place. The University Police maintains information on campus emergency preparedness.  If you have an office emergency and need immediate assistance, dial 3-4140 (727-873-4140).
  • Holidays:  Full-time Faculty, A&P, and USPS employees enjoy nine holidays a year along with two floating holidays that are designated by the President.   Check Here for the holidays and specific dates of closing.
