for all. Advisors for the College of Education are committed
to serving the students, who enter the College of Education,
as well as those educators who wish to renew or enhance their
credentials. The major areas of responsibility include:

Deadline To Apply For Graduation:
The deadline to apply for Fall 2008 graduation is September 19th (no later than 5 p.m.). Obtain a Bachelors Degree Graduation Application and submit it to the Advising Office (DAV134).

Preliminary
Requirements for Students Entering Teacher Education Programs:
Students who wish to teach in a particular
subject area or field should begin preliminary coursework during
their first year in college. However, students cannot be admitted
to the College of Education (and into a teacher education program)
until they finish the university’s liberal arts freshman
and sophomore requirements
and the College of Education admissions criteria.
After students finish prerequisite courses, they may apply for entrance into
one of the upper-level teacher education programs offered by the College of
Education. To demonstrate that you meet the College admission requirements,
you must bring the following items to the advising session:
- Official Transcripts from each college or university attended
- Documentation of successful completion of the CLAST or documentation
of successful completion of the FTCE General Knowledge Test.
Admission
to an upper-level teacher education program is contingent
upon meeting the following preliminary college requirements:

Test (Certification Requirement)

The General Knowledge
Test is a basic skills achievement test containing four
subtests: Mathematics (45 multiple-choice items), Reading
(40 multiple-choice, passage-based items), and English
Language Skills (40 multiple-choice items), and Essay.

A candidate
does not need to take the General Knowledge Test if he/she took and passed all subtests of the CLAST before July 1,
2002.

Florida Teacher Certification Examinations
Registration via mail: FTCE Registration Bulletins can be obtained from DAV 134 or requested at the FTCE website.
Online Registration: By going to the FTCE/FELE Program web site, applicants can submit their registration online.
Applications must be received by the Florida Department of Education by the dates below.
