Career Counseling and Assessment Sound career decisions are based on taking time to understand one’s interests, abilities, values, skills and to learn about educational and career options. We offer group and individual counseling to assist in making decisions regarding major and career choice, career change, job searching, internships, and other career issues. Experiential Education Experience, knowledge and skills acquired prior to graduation improve students’ marketability when seeking employment. Career Services facilitates two types of experiential learning experiences: Cooperative Education and Internships. They are typically one semester long or for a specific length of time, internships and co-ops are supervised, hands-on experience and assist in the determination of a future career path. Cooperative Education A “Co-op” is a structured, supervised program that integrates practical, paid work experience with a student’s academic program. The two types of Co-op plans are Alternating and Parallel. The Alternating Plan allows students to alternate full-time semesters of work with full-time semesters of study. The Parallel Plan allows students to take classes while concurrently working part-time. This experience is documented on your transcript. Internships Internships are credited or non-credited learning experiences providing students an opportunity to implement and enhance their academic learning on or off-campus.
