About our Programs of Distinction The College of Arts & Sciences houses three Programs of Distinction, where students, faculty and the community have the unique opportunity to explore the history and culture of the state of Florida (Florida Studies), examine the scientific as well as the political and economic influences on our environment (Environmental Science, Policy and Geography) and learn how to report, present and interpret the news using 21st century tools (Journalism and Media Studies). The close proximity of such distinguished institutions as the Florida Humanities Council and the U.S. Geological Survey expands the learning opportunities for students beyond the traditional classroom setting.
