Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater
Congratulations! Below is a checklist to review if you plan to participate in the commencement ceremony.
- Apply for degree with the Registrar’s Office before September 18, 2009.
NOTE: It is the student’s responsibility to check with his or her college to determine any special deadlines or requirements for applying to graduate.

Masters: Click Here (PDF)
- Regalia is required to participate in commencement. Regalia is different for Bachelors and Masters candidates.
Several companies may try to sell caps and gowns. To be certain that you are getting USF-approved regalia, order from the USF St. Petersburg Bookstore.
Regalia will be on sale at the USF St. Petersburg Bookstore beginning October 26 during the Grad Stampede from 1-6 PM. Payment is made at the time of purchase. Out-of-town students should contact the USF St. Petersburg Bookstore to make regalia arrangements. Please call Bookstore Customer Service at (727) 873-2028 for all regalia inquiries.
Pricing:
Bachelors for purchase (cap/gown/tassel) = $38 plus tax
Masters for purchase (cap/gown/hood/tassel) = $68 plus tax
- Regalia will be delivered after the Pre-Commencement meetings on November 23 located in Campus Activities Center at 10 am, 2 pm and 6 pm.
- Honors students: To order Honors sashes call 813-974-3180 http://www.msc.usf.edu/sashes.htm Honors sashes will be delivered to the Williams House 3-5 days before Commencement.
- Honor Medallion: Graduates may purchase an honor medallion if their name is on the official "graduating with honors" list posted at the USF St. Petersburg Bookstore. Only Bachelor’s candidates wear honor medallions. Medallions will be on sale at the USF St. Petersburg Bookstore at the same time as regalia.
- Each graduate will receive two souvenir programs on the day of the ceremony. The graduate names listed in the program come from the Registrar office, based on the list of students who have applied to graduate by the end of the fourth week of the term. Your name may not be in the program if you have applied to graduate after that deadline, or if you have elected total privacy on your student record. Registration for the commencement ceremony does not ensure your name is printed in the program. Following the ceremony, additional programs, if available, will be available at the Williams House located at 511 Second Street South.
- International sashes are for those graduates whose home country is outside the continental United States. The sashes bear the same colors as the flag of each nation. Sashes are available from the International Student & Scholars Services Office.
International students can place their sash order when they register for the Commencement ceremony through November 20. International students will not receive an international sash if they register after November 20. Sashes may be picked up at the Williams House two days prior to the Commencement ceremony.
- Tickets will be delivered for commencement at the Pre-Commencement meetings on November 23. Please contact Annette Hamon for additional ticket information.
