Site-Licensed Software Appropriate licensing is required by law for all software products installed on USF computers andservers. Failure to strictly adhere to these requirements can place the university in a seriously vulnerable legal position. Hence, the University of South Florida has negotiated a number of licenses for popular software titles. The table below provides a list of common academic software titles and their respective licensing terms for the USF St. Petersburg community -- including campus (site) licenses, faculty and staff computers and students or graduate assistants.
Most of these software titles are available for purchasing by USF faculty, staff or students through the USF Computer Store at the Tampa campus. Many vendors make software available for free, sometimes referred to as "freeware", to members of academic institutions, individuals or non-commercial users. Some popular or open-source software titles are availble for free. Please note that technical support for free or unlicensed software may not be available from the Office of Campus Computing.
