Judicial Branch Requirements
- Justices must be students of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg
- Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours of classes
- Justices must maintain good academic standing with the University as defined by their school or department
- Justices must abide by all federal state and local laws and all University of South Florida St. Petersburg policies
- Justices may not hold an office in Student Government
- Justices may not hold a position in the election rules committee
- Justices must fulfill all duties of their office, including attendance at court meetings, hearings, and events
- The Student Body President nominates the candidates for appointment by the Student government Senate. Justices will be confirmed by 2/3 majority vote then appointed by the Student Body President
Duties/Position Description
The Judiciary:
The Judiciary is established to do the following:
- Responsible for revisions, amendments, deletions, or additions to this Constitution for the Student Government to approve.
- For the appeal of actions and/or decisions made by Student Government or any one within Student Government.
- May be established to hear violations of the student code of conduct at the discretion of the Dean of Students and/or Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
The members will consist of three student members, (none of which may be Student Government senators or officers), appointed by the President. Of the three members a chairperson will be appointed by the President. All appointees must be confirmed by a 2/3 majority vote, membership will coincide with the regular term of office of the Student Government.
