Application Checklist

All applicants must submit the following items in addition to the completed application form:

 

Application Fee

All applicants are required to submit an application fee of $30.00 for EACH graduate program. Please attach a check or money order drawn on a US bank in US currency, made payable to USF. Any application received without the required fee will NOT be processed, and will be destroyed two months after being received.

NOTE: IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR ELECTRONIC OR PAPER APPLICATION FEE DIRECTLY THROUGH THE USF ST. PETERSBURG CASHIER'S OFFICE, YOU MUST SUBMIT THE RECEIPT TO THE OFFICE OF GRADUATE ADMISSIONS ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF BAYBORO HALL, SUITE 204.

ALL APPLICATION FEES SUBMITTED ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Transcripts

One (1) official transcript from each institution of higher learning where you earned a degree is required, however, unofficial copies or photocopies of transcripts may be used to expedite the processing of your application. Any admissions granted using unofficial transcripts will not be finalized until official transcripts are received in a sealed envelope from the Office of the Registrar where the transcript originated. Students who attended any USF system institution or campus are not required to submit transcripts of USF coursework.

All transcripts must be in English; it is the applicant’s responsibility to have transcripts translated/ evaluated (if necessary) before submitting them as part of their graduate application packet.

If you are applying while still completing an undergraduate degree, you must submit transcripts of at least six (6) semesters of completed undergraduate work. Final transcripts showing the award of a bachelor’s degree will be required if an applicant is admitted and enrolls.

Test Scores

All applicants are required to submit a Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores taken within five (5) years of the desired term of entry unless specifically waived by the program. Some programs will waive the GRE minimum score if another measure can be used to determine the potential for success in the program Some College of Education programs that require Florida Department of Education tests may also waive the GRE requirement. Links to specific program requirements can be found by accessing the USF St. Petersburg Graduate Programs page at http://www.stpt.usf.edu/spgrad/Graduate_Programs.htm.

Official scores must be submitted to USF St. Petersburg directly from the testing agency, however, applicants may provide unofficial copies of their test scores to begin processing of their applications while awaiting the official scores. Any admission granted using unofficial scores will not be finalized until official scores from ETS are received.

Scores are sent electronically to USF St. Petersburg from the testing agency. To request that your scores be sent to USF St. Petersburg, provide the testing agency with the following institution codes:

For GRE and TOEFL: institution code 5828

For GMAT: institution code VP9-M4-25 (for USF St. Petersburg's MBA program).

Applicants whose native language is not English or who have not earned a degree in the United States must also submit TOEFL scores earned within two (2) years of the desired term of entry. A minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test is required. Applications submitted with TOEFL scores that do not meet the minimum requirements will be denied with no exceptions. Conduct Clearance

All graduate applicants are required to answer the Conduct Clearance portion of the graduate application. The applicant will not be notified of the admission decision until answers to the two questions have been received and cleared by USF St. Petersburg's Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs or his/her designee, if warranted.

Residency Policy


Applicants desiring classification as a Florida resident for tuition paying purposes must sign and complete the Florida Residency Classification page of the Graduate Application. Incomplete or unsigned forms will be classified as non-Florida residents.

Applicants will be classified as a Florida Resident if the Office of Graduate Admissions can verify, using submitted documentation, that the student has lived in the State of Florida for at least 12 months prior to the start of classes of their admitted term. For more information on USF St. Petersburg's residency requirment, please visit the following web page: http://www.registrar.usf.edu/Residency/General_Procedures.php. The Residency Wizard on this page is helpful in determining what documentation you might need to prove Florida Residency. The three most commonly used documents include: Florida Voter's Identification, Florida Driver's License and Florida Vehicle Identification. Two forms of identification are required, one of which needs to have been issued prior to 12 months to the start of classes in the entry term.
