Leadership Development

Leadership Development Track

PlayfairALANADrum Circle

Students must first know who they are and then reflect on his or her role and responsibility to themselves and the community. They must be committed to identifying core values and pursuing ethical behavior in preparation of becoming leaders. By not compromising one's values and beliefs, these students maintain the highest degrees of integrity and achieve a level of credibility that provides the foundation for success. Through a commitment to these concepts, students can achieve that critical degree of influence that opens wide the door to opportunity and service to their fellow citizens.

1. L.E.A.D. (Leadership Exploration and Development) – Freshmen Program

L.E.A.D. is a semester-long program that provides opportunities for first year students to explore, experience and develop leadership. It includes self assessment, values clarification and ethical behavior. It is important to make meaning out of your exploration and understanding of your colligate experiences.

2. Emerging Leaders – Upperclassmen

The Emerging Leaders Program is a semester-long program where upperclassmen engage in workshops designed to develop and build upon previous leadership experience and training. The Emerging Leaders program is for students who want to strengthen leadership skills and enhance knowledge. The curriculum of the program includes training and education in integrity and credibility. The objective of the program is to prepare students for future leadership opportunities and a life of influence and service.

3. SAIL (Students Advanced in Leadership) Society

The SAIL Society is a registered student organization that recognizes students who have made notable contributions to the university through character, service and commitment to enhancing the university environment. Students selected for the society personify the ideals of the university by being ethical, proficient and creative and have demonstrated over time the qualities needed to be effective leaders.

4. ODK (Omicron Delta Kappa) - National Leadership Honor Society

Omicron Delta Kappa places emphasis upon the development of the whole person, both as a present member of the college community and as a prospective contributor to a better society. The society believes that while good scholarship and intellectual development are the chief objectives of the college years, the life of the mind is not the only life students will have to cope with as the result of their college experience.
