SAIL Directors (Students Advanced in Leadership)
Under the direction of the Bishop Center’s Leadership Staff, SAIL Directors are responsible for assisting with co-curricular leadership programs and activities that foster positive student development and learning for USFSP students. SAIL Directors are employed to meet the needs of students, reflect the vision and values of the Bishop Center, and prepare students for leadership roles and responsibilities in both the public and private sectors. SAIL Directors assist the Center with its leadership mission and foster an active, skilled and contributing student community.
Student Government
Just as a good classroom experience is vital to a student's academic excellence, the co-curricular experiences that a student has through leadership opportunities is crucial to a student's desire to contribute to community. The Student Government Association of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg represents the interests and concerns of students to the larger university community, while working to build an excitingly vibrant life on campus for students. Resident Assistant Program
Resident Assistants (RA's) are a very important part of the Residence Life department. RA's have direct and constant student contact. The RA's primary responsibility is to act as a facilitator for the residents and to enhance the social, intellectual and cultural development of each individual. The RA serves as a leader, positive role model and "tour guide" through residential life at USFSP.
Orientation Leader Program
Orientation Leaders are carefully chosen to represent the university as ambassadors. They are USFSP for new and prospective students. OLs provide reassurance, impartially help students make their own decisions, encourage involvement in campus life, share experiences, build USFSP’s community of respect, and provide information about campus resources and services.
VIP Guide Program
As campus tour guides, VIP Guides, provide visitors with a realistic glimpse of the USFSP experience and include an overview of campus facilities, programs, and atmosphere. Guides join Admission Counselors in representing the University to prospective students and their families. They provide invaluable insight and help our guests to understand what it is to be a college student today.
Student Organization Officer & Member Training
These Training sessions provide organization officers, members and advisors with detailed information on how to be successful within their organization. The Bishop Center strongly encourages students and their advisors to participate in the training sessions to maximize their contributions to their organizations.
ROTC
The Reserve Officers' Training Corps is one of the best leadership programs in the country and can be part of a student’s college curriculum. During classes and field training, students will learn first-hand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups and how to conduct missions as an Officer in the Army. Upon graduation from Army ROTC, students will earn the bar of a Second Lieutenant and become a leader for life.
